McFly

McFly is an intelligent neural-network shell history search that replaces the default Ctrl-R shortcut with context-aware command prediction.

McFly replaces the default shell history search with an intelligent engine powered by a small neural network that prioritizes command suggestions based on contextual signals such as the current working directory, command frequency, and recency rather than simple text matching. It learns from usage patterns over time, meaning the most relevant commands for each specific context rise to the top automatically. McFly integrates with Bash, Zsh, and Fish shells as a seamless drop-in replacement for the standard Ctrl-R history search. It is completely free and open source.
